The problem

You export a spreadsheet to PDF and the columns run off the edge, or one sheet becomes nine pages with a single column on each. Whoever opens it cannot read the table as a table.

How do I convert Excel to PDF on a Mac without cutting off columns?

Fit the sheet to the page width first, then save as PDF. Spreadsheets have no idea where a page ends, so a wide sheet exported as it is splits across pages.

  1. Open the Page Layout tab and set Orientation to Landscape for a wide sheet.
  2. Under Scale to Fit, set Width to 1 page and Height to Automatic.
  3. Choose File > Save As, set the file format to PDF, and save.

How do I export a Numbers spreadsheet to PDF on one page?

Choose File > Export To > PDF. The export window lets you put each sheet on a single page or split it into printable pages; choose the single page layout for a sheet you want to read whole, then click Save. For more control over scale and orientation, choose File > Print first and adjust it there.

Why is the text so small in my spreadsheet PDF?

Decide who the PDF is for before you fit it. A sheet someone will print wants to be readable at actual size, even across two pages; a sheet someone will only skim on screen can be squeezed onto one, because they can zoom in. Fitting everything onto one page by default makes the first kind unusable.
